The magazine I am making with Ivaylo Gueorgiev – f.ART – is being launched with a grand celebration next Wednesday September 29th at Heathers (506 E. 13th St. NYC) from 8-late. Issue 1 of the magazine will be available for $15 and includes a button (collect all 4!). In addition, I am really excited to announce our two DJs – Dave Tompkins* and Raspberry Jones**! If you can’t make the party you can still buy a copy of the magazine on our website or coming soon to an independent bookshop near you.
*Dave Tompkins’ first book How To Wreck A Nice Beach: The Vocoder From World War II To Hip-Hop was published by Stop Smiling/ Melville House in April of 2010. Mix and more crosstalk can be found at howtowreckanicebeach.com. He lives in Brooklyn.
**Piotr Orlov (a.k.a. Raspberry Jones) is a Brooklyn-based critic, curator, and events producer. He helped put together the music program for the museum show, Black President: The Art and Legacy of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti; has written about house music and African techno for the New York Times; and throws a monthly dance-party called Treehouse. By day, Piotr is a strategic creative for Mother Industries.
