Behind the Scenes: Printing a Magazine

Yesterday f.ART magazine was printed at Linco in Long Island City, NY. After shopping around for a printer we liked we settled on Linco, because they seemed to be the most professional, had lots of paper choices, and offered a fairly good price. We also consulted this great online resource for printers when we were looking for the right place.

We were new to the process so it didn’t go as smoothly as we would have liked. We had problems a few weeks ago with our InDesign files and we also found it difficult to communicate with Linco, because of language barriers. But, at the end of the day yesterday, the magazine looked great and we are much more prepared for issue two, which we’ll be printing in the spring of 2011! If you are reading this blog and you have any questions about printing a magazine or book or poster for the first time, please feel free to ask me any questions. It’s a really fun process. Here are some photos of f.ART at the printers:

Don’t forget to check out the launch party we are having for f.ART this Wednesday September 29th at 8pm, Heathers, NYC. Check out the previous posting for more details. If you don’t live in NYC or can’t make it to the party you can still purchase a copy of the magazine on our website for $15 + s/h.
